EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) / Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique is a powerful self-help healing method.

EFT offers us the freedom and ability to change our emotional state, rather than being controlled by our feelings.  Once distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, accelerate healing, open to peace and contentment in the present moment, and experience lightness and freedom.

What is Tapping?

Tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), is a powerful holistic healing technique that has been proven to effectively resolve a range of issues, including stress, anxiety, emotional disorders, chronic pain, addiction, weight control, phobias, and limiting beliefs.

Tapping combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. Tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian points, while focusing on emotions or physical sensations, relaxes the nervous system, rewires the brain, and restores the body’s balance of energy.  It often works where nothing else does, and anyone can learn and use EFT in a relatively short amount of time and achieve great results.

How Does Tapping Work?
Tapping uses the mind-body connection to resolve physical pain, disease, and mental disturbance.  The body has an energy system with pathways called meridians. Tapping on specific points helps to stimulate this system, and when verbally or mentally connecting to the the root causes of our distress, the energy blockages are able to release and flow naturally again.

Tapping on specific meridian points while concentrating on the negative emotions and experiential stories engages both the brain’s limbic system and the body’s energy system, and moves us towards feelings of safety and resolution. Just like the scientific field of epigenetics is proving, when we change our internal environment (our emotions and beliefs), external changes in our mental and physical health will follow.

What is Acupressure?

Acupuncture heals by using needles on meridian points to stimulate and unblock the body's energy flow.
Tapping uses acupressure, which is simply tapping on these meridian points, so it's simple and painless. Anyone can learn EFT and everyone can apply tapping to any situation, thought, or feeling whenever we want, wherever we are.  Tapping gives us the power to heal ourselves, putting us in control over our own destiny and personal growth journey.

What is the Scientific Evidence of Tapping’s Effectiveness?

There is endless anecdotal evidence from the results of clinical trials, practitioner reports, individual case studies, and those who have used EFT Tapping on their own.  Additionally, there has been a growing pool of clear research proving that Tapping produces real, lasting healing. It significantly improves, and can even even eliminate, conditions that hospital treatments, medications, and years of psychotherapy have failed to resolve.

Studies performed around the world, including Harvard Medical School, continue to verify these assertions. And over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for anxiety, depression, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.

The scientific basis for Tapping therapy revolves around the functions of the amygdala. The amygdala is a part of the body’s limbic system and is the source of emotions and long-term memory. The amygdala governs the brain’s fear center, from which the “flight or fight” response originates and it alerts other parts of the brain that it senses danger. This process is helpful when faced with a real survival situation or a true threat, but is detrimental when the brain activates this alert over “irrational fears” and is overly stimulated too often.

Tapping relaxes the amygdala, stopping the triggering of the stress response and allows the brain synapses to be rewired for a more appropriate emotional response to any non-dangerous life situation.
